Entry Requirements

Joining the International Study Center 

The International Study Center has specific admission requirements. In order to be accepted on to your program, you must meet our academic requirements, as well as a minimum level of English language proficiency.

The requirements needed to study the International Year are lower than for direct admission to the University. The International Year gives students extra support as they begin their studies.

The Grades You Need to Achieve


  • International Year: Minimum GPA 2.75 
  • Undergraduate Programs: Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Transfer Students: Minimum GPA 2.75
  • Engineering Undergraduate Transfers: Minimum GPA 3.25 
  • Graduate engineering degrees: Minimum GPA 3.0

English Language

  • Undergraduate Direct Entry: Minimum TOEFL 80;  IELTS 6.5
  • International Year
    • 1-term IY: TOEFL (IBT) 70 overall; IELTS 6.0
    • 2-term IY: TOEFL (IBT) 60 overall; IELTS 5.5;
    • 3-term IY (with the 1st term EAP): TOEFL (IBT) 50 overall; IELTS 5.0
  • Graduate engineering degrees: TOEFL (IBT) 80 overall; IELTS 6.5

Direct Admission

High achieving international students are invited to apply for undergraduate direct admission. A select number of applicants who meet the University's higher entry requirements and are confident in their English language skills are admitted each year.
